Using Fing to Discover network on LAN with Raspberry PI

Fing is a very handy tools to discover hosts on network. Here's how to install it on your raspberry pi.
1. Download the deb (raspberry PI) from Overlooksoft.com. Type in command into console.
wget http://www.overlooksoft.com/packages/download?plat=arm -O fing.deb
2. Install it
sudo dpkg -i fing.deb

3. Use it
a) Discover infinite rounds
sudo fing
b) Discover certain range with 1 round
sudo fing -d -r 1
( -d Means discovery network from till & -r means round)
c) Scan for services
sudo fing -s
d) Scan for services from a domain
sudo fing -s www.example.com
e) Scan for services from a domain with certain port
sudo fing -s www.example.com/80
f) Output the scanned result (Output to text log and on network.txt file)
sudo fing -h host -o text, network.txt

How to connect to linux box and run the box's X windows?

This is another tutorial on how to connect to a linux box remotely and launch anything on the remote X windows. Here's the steps:

1. Launch Putty and login to remote linux box.
2. type 'startx &' to launch x windows on remote linux box if remote linux box's x windows was not launch yet.
3. Here's the important steps which is to type in 'export DISPLAY=:0' to make sure the ssh command will launch apps on the remote machine x windows. *The default is :0 and if there's x windows running elsewhere on the remote linux box, you may try to change 0 with other number.

Introducing Raspberry PI

Raspberry PI is a small ARM based computer which includes 1 USB port (Model A)/ 2 USB port (Model B), HDMI display output, RCA Video Output, SD Card slot, Audio Jack and one simple Ethernet port for connecting to the Internet.

It is simply just a tiny small computer that run with Raspbian (Linux) on SD card slot. It doesn't run Windows as it is just too heavy. It can be run with Android platform as well as Android was built on simply Linux Kernel. SD card function as a core storage for Raspberry PI and the OS can be obtained from the official Raspbian website at Raspbian.org. Simply dd or flash in the Raspbian image downloaded from Raspbian.org website and you are ready to have your own tiny computer running just with 5V usb powered adapter.

Raspberry PI is cheap and can be purchased at $25 - RM78* (Model A) and $35 - RM109* (Model B) from element 14.

APC - Caching support system for PHP

ACP is an alternative caching support system for PHP. It enables PHP intermediate code to be
cached and improve the performance of Apache2 and other programs which may execute PHP

To install APC support system for PHP:
1. Launch putty and login SSH to the system
2. Launch the following command:
apt-get install php-pear php5-dev apache2-prefork-dev build-essential make && pecl install apc
3.Edit the php.ini configuration file to include apc extension module:
nano /etc/php5/apache2/php.ini
4. Add the following text to the file, in the Dynamic Extension section, some way down the file:

service apache2 restart

Install simple LAMP to Raspberry PI(Raspbian)

Simple tutorial on creating LAMP server with Raspberry Pi

What is LAMP? it stands for Linux operating system, Apache Web server, MYSQL database server, and also PHP or Pearl Programming language.

Step by step:
1. To install Apache Web Server type the following command to the terminal:
